The government has announced the date of July 1st 2007 for a smoking ban to become effective in public places and workplaces in England. Virtually all structures with a roof, even canvas awnings, would be subject to the ban unless half the sides are open to the air. Even cars, vans and lorries could be included as any vehicle used as a 'workplace' by more than one person is covered by the ban.
The rights or wrongs of this are another debate entirely but now it is an indisputable fact that many smokers will not be able to smoke when and where they want to.
We all know the health dangers attributed to smoking and hopefully this ban will make some people think about quitting and even more actually do it, but no-one should stop because of the ban, the key to stopping smoking is to want to stop, not to do it because you have to stop.
If you take a smoker who enjoys smoking and give them a truck load of patches or nicotine gum (which are very unsuccessful anyway), they still wont stop. Motivation plays a massive part in being able to give up the demon weed forever and when any smoker has reached the point where they really want to quit, they are fed up with the smell, coughs and expense of smoking then that is when success is more likely to be achieved.
Hypnotherapy has been proven to be the most successful way of quitting cigarettes, more details can be found by clicking http://www.exuberancehypno.co.uk/smoking.htm If you have reached the point where you really want to stop then please call me to book an appointment. Why not badger your boss and see if he/she will contribute to the cost or if they would consider setting up a special stop smoking scheme?
Be happy and have a great weekend,
Dave.
