How many times would you attempt to do something before quitting? Two, three, seven? What if you had a total belief in yourself and your product or service, how many times then before you gave up? 10, 11, 12?
Harland Sanders, better known as Colonel Sanders, learned to cook for his younger brother and sister after his father died when he was young. This interest in cooking continued until he eventually started selling his secret recipe chicken from a petrol station he operated, later opening a restaurant over the street from the garage. This was in a small town in Kentucky where eventually a new highway was built to bypass the town so Colonel Sanders auctioned off his restaurant. At the age of 66 years young and with a welfare cheque for $105, Colonel Sanders decided to start building a business again.
He had such an absolute faith in his chicken recipe and the way he cooked the chicken that he decided to set off in his car with his chicken fryer and a batch of his secret coating to visit restaurant owners. He cooked his chicken for them telling them that the wonderful taste of his kentucky fried chicken would attract new customers and that all he wanted in exchange for providing the secret recipe coating was a nickel for every piece of chicken sold.
Colonel Sanders travelled far and wide to promote his product and got rejected, told no, laughed at, over 1000 times before he shook hands on his first deal.
Colonel Sanders was 66 years young, started with a welfare check for $105, spent 2 years travelling across the states and got knocked back over 1000 (one thousand) times before he got his first deal. The rest is history.
Stop telling yourself "I can't" or coming up with excuses not to do something. If you think you can't then you probably won't, but if you think you can then you probably will.
Be happy,
Dave.
