One of the main aims of any work I do with my clients is to establish that what is said by others is not as important as the meaning we give ourselves to the words that were spoken. If you have ever been upset by something that was said by someone else, it was because you allowed yourself to get upset by it. I certainly don't intend to help people become emotion free zombies, rather help them to develop a "whatever" attitude, not in an egotistical, conceited or trash-TV sort of way, but in a way that is beneficial for them.

In a nutshell, we are in charge of how we think, feel and behave. Words are only words.

I make no apologies for putting my favourite collection of words up for the Monday Motivation slot again. I have this hanging in my office and at home and whenever I've finished reading it, it gets me back on track very quickly.

"The longer I live, the more I realise the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is that we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes." By Charles Swindoll.

Have a great week, if you want to you will.

Be happy,

Dave.
