Last night on BBC1's Hotel Babylon, we saw the incredible powers of hypnosis! One of the characters used his "incredible skills" to simply click his fingers and instantly put complete strangers in a trance.

Amazing. I wish I could do that. But I can't. Nor can anyone else.

Stage hypnotists (the dark side) have to do all sorts of susceptibility tests and ask for volunteers before they can attempt to do it. When it happens it looks effective for the audience, that is the whole point of a stage show, but a bit of work is done by the hypnotist before it gets to that point.

Whilst I say this in a light hearted way, because I was laughing as I watched it, please accept that the TV and media representation of "hypnosis" is usually for entertainment, it very rarely represents the actual reality.

Be happy and have a great weekend,

Dave.
