Hypnotherapy can be much more effective in bringing about a permanent and profound change because it works with our subconscious mind, as opposed to our conscious mind.
Traditional psychotherapy is generally much less effective, much more costly and takes a lot more time than hypnosis because it works with conscious thought. You would sit there and talk about what you think and feel but because you are aware of your thoughts and feelings, they are produced by your conscious, rational mind.
The beauty of hypnotherapy is that it works with our subconscious mind and as we go about our daily lives we are oblivious to what is going on at a subconscious level, we just "feel the effects" as such. How many of you have a habit or behaviour that effects you but you don't know why you do it?
Sometimes clients will tell me that the cause of an unwanted behaviour is "xyz". The cause is "xyz". In a natural and wonderfully therapeutic state of hypnosis, clients will let themselves become aware of the real reason, the real cause, which is "abc", nothing to do with what they consciously thought it was. Once this has been established, great change could be made, clients can have that "whoa" moment.
Our subconscious mind is who and what we are, it controls our habits, beliefs, emotions and much more. My belief is that it is much more likely that you will bring about profound and permanent, positive change if it is done at a subconscious level.
Be happy and have a great weekend,
Dave.
