We go through life justifying to ourselves why we must do something or want to do something. It is always better to want to do something as opposed to thinking that we must do something, but our reasons for doing a certain thing very often are for others or the benefit of others.

Whilst this can be seen as being selfless, and is very often a great attitude to have, it is important to keep hold of the fact that you must also put yourself first at times, not in a selfish or egotistical way, but in a way that benefits you on a personal level.

Some people are like the "rock" of the family or social group and while offering great love, help and support to others, forget to give themselves the love, help and support they need.

It is OK to put yourself first. Not all the time, every time, but occasionally enough for you to feel good about yourself. When a rock is sitting on a foundation of jelly, it isn't much good to anyone.

"Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are." - Dale Carnegie

Be happy,

Dave.
