I was looking through some old boxes of mine in the loft yesterday when I found a hand written note, along with some inspirational poems, that my Grandma had sent to me in the late 80's. The significance of the words she wrote seem even more powerful to me today than when I first read them.

Sometimes we are oblivious to the amount of peace and joy that we are capable of experiencing. All of our feelings, good or bad, are created by our own minds and when we can release the negative thoughts or feelings from our being we can feel much better about ourselves in many ways.

This is one of the poems she sent me.

Don’t travel far to seek for joy –

For joy is everywhere;

It’s not a destination

But a way of getting there.

It’s within us and around us –

In a lovely flower or tree,

In a friendly smile or greeting,

In a haunting melody…

Joy is easy to discover,

It requires no skill or art;

Look within and you will find it

Simply waiting in your heart.

Be happy and have a great day,

Dave.
