I am an absolute believer in the mind-body connection, I believe that stress is bad for our immune systems and that when we feel good mentally we also boost our immune systems. I absolutely believe that every thought, feeling or emotion that we experience at a subconscious level manifests itself in our physical body somehow.
Now, I do not for one second state that every disease or illness is caused by our thoughts, no way. If you choose to smoke sixty cigarettes a day, drink a bottle of whisky daily, eat only barbecued food for breakfast, dinner and tea, do absolutely no exercise, then you are likely to get ill and your health will probably suffer.
But, I do believe that sometimes, some illness or disease is caused by emotional turmoil that we keep inside. Irritable Bowel Syndrome is one of these "diseases" that most medical professionals admit has an emotional cause, and this post is not about misnaming illness as a disease.
It got me thinking about what diseases or conditions there are that have no known cause. Now, with the technology we have available to us today you would think that if you were to be prescribed drugs or operated on, you would be told what caused the disease in the first place. Have a look at the following list of diseases or conditions that have no known cause and consider, just consider, that our state of mind and emotions may possibly have a part to play:
* non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
* Chrohn's disease
* IBS
* Parkinson's
* Alzheimer's
* Paget's (Osteitis Deformans)
* Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
* Fibromyalgia
* Meniere's
* Asthma
* Grave's disease (overactive thyroid)
* Leukaemia
* Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
* Multiple Sclerosis
* Ulcerative Colitis
* Rheumatoid Arthritis
* Lupus
Astonished? I was when I first searched for disease with no known cause. It seems that the above "diseases" are caused from the inside out, no external infection is to blame. Again, consider that our own state of mind has a massive part to play in our physical health.
I am not a doctor, I don't pretend to be a doctor nor do I ever want to be confused as being a doctor. I see people (clients) not patients. My speciality lies not in the physical aspect of illness or disease but in finding any emotional cause behind an illness or disease. That is what I specialise in. Helping you make sense of the things that don't make sense.
Be happy,
Dave Sabat.
